Admission to our school is selective with a focus on academic excellence and personal potential. We assess candidates based on past academic records, standardized test scores, admission assessment, principal recommendation, and personal interviews (middle school).
First priority is given to children with a sibling already attending St. Matthew Catholic School. The Admissions Committee will review the pool of candidates and make enrollment decisions. All students wanting to enroll into St. Matthew must be fully potty trained before the first day of school.
Applications cannot be reviewed unless all of the documents listed on the Admission Checklist are received.
Please note: Your child must be 3, 4, 5, or 6 years of age on or before September 1st to attend PreK3, PreK4, Kindergarten or First Grade, respectively. The Texas Catholic Conference Education Department (TCCED) requires that a child must meet the following age requirements for admission.
8th Grade Transfers
St. Matthew Catholic School does not routinely accept 8th grade transfer students. At the discretion of the administration, exceptions may be granted.
Application Process
Step 1 Apply for admission:Apply Now OnlineA $75 non-refundable application fee that is required at the time you submit your application. This fee must be paid online through the application portal and all required documents (if applicable) listed below must be submitted on the online application in order for your application to be considered complete.
Copy of the Birth Certificate (Official State-Certified)
Copy of Baptism Certificate and First Holy Communion Certificate (If Applicable)
Current Immunization Record (Doctor Signature Required)
Completed St. Matthew Health Form
Applicant's current year-to-date report card (K-8th)
Applicant's complete year-end report card from the previous year (K-8th)
Applicant's standardized test scores from the last two years
Step 2 Admission Assessment & Interview: After we receive the completed submitted application, a member of the admissions team will contact you to set up an admission assessment and interview for your child. The assessments will only be conducted on Tuesdays and Thursdays during school hours for all students in PreK3-8th grade.
PreK3, PreK4, and Kindergarten: readiness for PreK3, PreK4, and Kindergarten
1st-2nd Grades: math and reading skills
3rd-5th Grades: math, reading, and writing skills
6th-8th Grades: math, reading, and writing skills
Step 3 Application Review & Decision: The Admissions Review Committee will review the completed application, supporting documents, and assessment results and will make an admission decision. Admission to our school is selective with a focus on academic excellence and personal potential. If accepted, the applicant’s parent/guardian will receive an acceptance letter via email with instructions on how to complete the online enrollment process. This must be completed within a week of acceptance in order to reserve your enrollment spot for the 2026-2027 school year.
